The Colca Canyon
3 hours and 45 minutes from the city, you will find the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world and home to the majestic condor.
In this area you can see colorful pre-Inca stepped terraces cultivated until now with quinoa, corn, barley and wheat. You can find there animals such as the alpaca, vicuña and the lama. This place has become the first producer and exporter center of wool, mainly from alpaca and the finest vicuña.
Moreover, adventure sports such as mountain biking, trekking and rafting are practiced there. At the Cruz del Condor you can appreciate the majestic flight of condors.
SANTA CATALINA CONVENT
Built in the 16th century for those daughters of Arequipa's aristocracy who had chosen a nun's life, the convent preserves its colonial architecture and sillar walls. It is a city within a city and has its own streets and neighborhoods.
SANTUARIOS ANDINOS MUSEUM
This museum is dedicated to the offerings made by the Incas to the Apus or mountain deities. The mummy of a girl, now named Juanita, was found perfectly preserved conditions in the Ampato glacier. She and her clothing are shown in this museum.
ANDAGUA, THE VALLEY OF VOLCANOES
277 Km from the city of Arequipa (approximately 10 hours by car), the valley of the volcanoes was the scene of intense volcanic activity 200,000 years ago and today we can see the extensive layer of lava from which 86 small volcanoes have emerged. It is at an altitude of 3, 587 mts.
CRUZ DEL CÓNDOR
In the Colca Canyon, this natural vantage point enables you to appreciate the beauty of the Colca Valley in its entire splendor as well as the flight o f the condor, the emblematic bird of Peru.
CASA DEL MORAL
A 17th Century mansion, this is one of Arequipa's oldest and most important baroque buildings. The mansion owes its name to an ancient mulberry tree that used to grow in the courtyard. It is one of the most complete examples of Arequipa baroque architecture. Walking through its rooms shows us the daily life of that period of time.
