» TIERRA DEL FUEGO and CABO DE HORNOS


Day 1 - Ushuaia- Monday:

Arrival to Ushuaia and transfer to the hotel. Ushuaia is the most austral city located at the edge of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by Marcial Mountains, Ushuaia Port, originally a criminal colony , is now the capital of the Argentinean province of Tierra del Fuego . Accommodation in the hotel, two nights including breakfast.



Day 2 - Ushuaia- Tuesday:

Morning tour to the Tierra del Fuego National Park. It was created in 1960 and it is located at 12 kms at the southeast of the city. It represents the most protected natural and austral region of Argentina, as well as the only National Park at the edge of the ocean. The forest is part of one the most impressive views of the Beagle Channel and other places, where it can be appreciated flora and fauna species.



Day 3 - Ushuaia- Wednesday:

In the afternoon, boarding in the Mare Australis by a three night cruise. Welcome Cocktail and a Dinner on board. Departure from Ushuaia and we travel to Cabo de Hornos, crossing through Murray Channel. Beagle Channel- Cabo de Hornos - Cabo de Hornos - Wulaia Bay.




Day 4 - Cabo de Hornos - Thursday:

Arrival to the Cabo de Hornos National Park and the Wulaia Bay (Ambarino Island). Cabo de Hornos is an island with precipices of almost 425 meters of altitude. It was discovered in January 30th of 1916 by a trade Danish expedition organized by Isaac Le Maire and managed by William Schouten Captain and Isaac Le Maire. Puerto de Hornos gave the name to this place where the expedition left on June 14th 1615. Cabo de Hornos - Wulaia Bay.



Day 5 - Garibaldi Glacier- Friday :

We sail until the Garibaldi Glacier and we arrive on a small boat to a beach in order to walk to the virgin forest. When boat enters to the Garibaldi Caleta, our main objective will be to arrive as near as possible to one of the most beautiful glaciers of our cruise to see this volume of blue ice with takes your breath. On the way, we will stop for a while to appreciate sea lions and we will announce our arrival. We will continue our cruise in the middle our floating ice pieces and arrive to one of the most unexplored beaches of the Garibaldi Caleta and we will visit one of deepest and wildest forest of the Patagonia while our guides tell us about flora, fauna and geography. Last night cocktail and dinner.



Day 6 - Magdalena Island- Punta Arenas- Puerto Naturales - Saturday:

Arrival to Magdalena Island, where we will enjoy looking a colony of more than 120,00 Magallánicos penguins (between October and March). We will walk to the San Isidro Lighthouse, which guided marine explorers on their trips through the Strait of Magallanes. Magdalena Island - Punta Arenas Located at 25 miles at the north of Punta Arenas, in the middle of the Strait of Magallanes, the Magdalena Island is a natural reserve of Magallanicos penguins and other birds which live pacifically with sea lions. There we will discover a colony of more than 60,000 pair of penguins that return each year to the same burrows built by them. Between October and March, they occupy almost all the island and compose an amazing view. You can walk through the island to the lighthouse, where you will find a photo exhibition and information about sea life in the Strait of Magallanes. 11.00 Hs . - Arrival to Punta Arenas Transfer by bus to Puerto Natales. Puerto Natales, the tourism capital in Magallanes, is located at 254 kms of Punta Arenas. This city owns several facilities, hotels and excellent services, as well as beautiful glaciers. It also has a casino, which will make a fun experience. Accommodation in the hotel, two nights including breakfast.



Day 7 - Torres del Paine National Park- Sunday:

Full day tour to the Torres del Paine National Park. Early departure from the hotel in order to start with a visit to Cueva de Milodon. While visiting the edge of Sarmiento Lakes, Nordenskjold and Pehoe, always with the impressive presence of the Torres del Paine, we can enjoy the variety of fauna where we will find guanacos. Then we will go to Grey Lake where we can appreciate the big ice floes in the lake around this glacier. We will stop to enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon we will back to Puerto Natales. Inn Accommodation in the hotel, two nights including breakfast.



Day 8 - El Calafate - Monday :

Transfer from the hotel to the Bus station in order to go to El Calafate. Arrival to El Calafe and transfer to the hotel. El Calafate is located at the south corner of the Argentinean Lake. This region is known as "Los Glaciares", the lakes region is covered by a vast ice plate of almost 200 miles of length and 40 miles of width. In 1973 Los Glaciares National Park was created in order to preserve this big glacier area. This area was also declared "World Heritage" by the UNESCO. Its main characteristics are its big mountains, its glaciers which come from the Andes and seem to be arms at the west of the lakes.
