» THE BEST OF THE SOUTH (7 days/6 nights)

AREQUIPA-CUSCO-PUNO

Day 1: Visiting Arequipa.

Arrival to Arequipa and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon city tour including Santa Catalina Convent, the Plaza de Armas, the Jesuit church of La Compañia and its beautifully-painted chapel, and the typical districts of Cayma and Yanahuara for a magnificent view of the Misti volcano.


Day 2: Cusco and Surrounding Ruins

Arequipa-Cusco by airplane. In the afternoon city tour and near ruins including Korikancha Temple and the Cathedral. We will continue to the nearest archeological centers: Sacsayhuamán Fortress, Kenko, Puca Pucaray and Tambomachay Temple.


Day 3: The City of Macchu Picchu

Macchu Picchu Excursion. Transfer to the train station; departure to Aguas Calientes on a panoramic travel of 3 hours and a half. Arrival to Aguas Calientes. Ascent by bus to Machu Picchu (35 minutes). Guided tour of the city. Return to Aguas Calientes by bus. Lunch. Return to Cusco by train. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.



Day 4: The Sacred Valley of Incas

We will visit the colorful Indian market in Pisac where we will appreciate a blend of color, tradition and people. At a distance of 31 km (19 miles) from Cusco, and an altitude of 2970 m (9700p), Pisac is located at the entrance of the Sacred Valley of Incas. After lunch visit to Ollantaytambo, the oldest continuously occupied settlement in America. The narrow streets of Ollantaytambo and unchanged channels since Inca times, recall its ancient heritage. Finally, visit to the fortress of the same name.


Day 5: Visiting Puno

Train from Cusco to Puno, transfer from Cusco Hotel to the train station, early departure. This is a wonderful trip, mainly after passage of La Raya, at 4313 m. The train goes by all the Sacred Valley of the Incas, at the east of Cusco. In the stations, local inhabitants offer their food and handcrafts. Arrival to Puno, reception in the train station of Puno, transfer to the hotel.



Day 6: Uros Island

We will visit the Uros Island, ancient descendants from Aimaras. They build their homes on floating artificial islands, which they made on the Lake Titicaca. They practice ancient customs. In the afternoon we will visit Sillustani chullpas or tombs. These funeral towers from 17th century are at 35 Km from Puno, on the way to Juliaca. The highest measures 12 meters. The wonderful landscapes and the neighbor Umayo Lake make that this tour be a wonderful experience.


Day 7: Return

Transfer for the departure.
